Munich his Town — the world his Home

On the road with his Volkswagen T2 van, the Leinfelder “Fredl” on his wrist, rolling down the window, feeling the wind on his face, stopping wherever he feels like it—that’s real freedom, at least to Munich-based master goldsmith and watchmaker Manfred Hilscher, who manages the family business Juwelier Hilscher since 1992.

Driven by that special Munich spirit and steeped in Bavarian traditions and customs, Manfred Hilscher often feels the pull to go out and explore the world. Apart from his beloved orange T2, his passions include exclusive timepieces and photography.

Driving his vintage van reminds the successful entrepreneur of the inner workings of a mechanical watch: without power steering and air-conditioning, it takes precision, care and patience—just as it does with watchmaking. Hilscher’s love for his classic vehicle is a metaphor for his understanding of success. For him, success does not culminate in luxury, but rather in the freedom to escape from the humdrum of everyday life and the freedom to savor these moments.

Success, life, freedom—these are the key words driving the Munich connoisseur and globetrotter Hilscher, to which Leinfelder Uhren München has dedicated its current model. Representing topographical abstractions of the landscape, orange and green highlights adorn the dial of the new “Fredl”. The chronograph measures the vital seconds where it matters. Time to enjoy life and the freedom to live.
